With 3,500 members, the VDMA is the largest network organization and an important voice for the machinery and equipment manufacturing industry in Europe and Germany. The association represents the common economic, technical and scientific interests of this unique and diverse industry.

The industry stands for innovation, export orientation and SMEs. The companies employ around 3 million people in the EU-27, more than 1.2 million of them in Germany alone. This makes mechanical and plant engineering the largest employer among the capital goods industries, both in the EU-27 and in Germany. In the European Union, it represents a turnover volume of an estimated 900 billion euros.

VDMA HealthTech is the European platform for companies in the industrial healthcare sector. The more than 350 members in the supply industry and healthcare automation stand for innovative technologies and, as competent suppliers, create sustainable value in the healthcare industry. Through strong networks between business, politics, and research,  VDMA HealthTech accelerates innovation, focuses on interoperability, and translates regulations into practice.
